Futures Week Ahead, 12–16 October 2026: CPI, PPI
September's CPI on Wednesday and PPI on Thursday, Columbus Day moving the EIA's crude report to Thursday noon, and the dates just past Friday: November crude's expiry and the Fed on 28 October.
Inflation is the week's scheduled story. September's consumer prices come out on Wednesday and producer prices on Thursday, both at 8:30 a.m. ET, an hour before the US stock market opens and well inside the overnight session for anyone trading from Europe or Asia.
Monday is Columbus Day. The bond market and the banks are shut; the stock market and the equity index futures trade a normal session. The holiday moves the EIA's crude oil inventory report from Wednesday to Thursday at noon ET, the same morning as the natural gas storage report at 10:30.
Just past Friday: the November crude oil contract stops trading on Tuesday 20 October, and CL volume usually shifts to December in the days before; and the Fed's next rate decision is on Wednesday 28 October.
